Mechanism of Sound Absorption : When a sound hits the porous material (Flexible Polyurethane foam), air vibration is directly transmitted to the air of cells inside the material. It creates air viscous friction at the cell surface and a portion of the sound energy transforms to heat energy which makes it sound absorbtion come into effect. Sound absorption is a phenomenon that the vibration attenuate and sound becomes weak by resisting against air movement.
